  • SWITCH to 100% CLEAN ENERGY through PG&E.  San Jose is offering two choices for the source of electrical energy: Green Source is about 45 percent renewable energy and at least 80 percent carbon free. The program will cost about 1 percent less than what PG&E charges. Residents are already on this plan automatically, or you can switch to Total Green. Total Green is 100 percent renewable and 100 percent carbon free. It may cost a few dollars more per month.  It’s easy to switch to Total Green. You are charged as usual through your PG&E bill so there’s no extra paperwork or billing statements.  Click here to switch to 100% clean energy.

Replace your car and your gas powered appliances with electric, powered by your solar (car, clothes dryer, cooktop, fireplace, water heater, Heating and Air conditioning system).  Contact BAYREN* for information on rebates that may help you pay for these changes. Buy what you do need at estate sales, garage sales or thrift stores. Join the Buy Nothing group and share your surplus with others.

Do you really need foods from shipped from around the world?  Cut down on the greenhouse gases used from shipping foods from other countries – buy locally and in season.  Also buy organic and keep our soil and yourself healthy and free of toxins.
